High-density Reducer

For over 16 years, Simplygon has been at the forefront of automating 3D content optimization, continuously innovating to meet the evolving needs of video game production. One of our latest advancements is the High-density Reducer, an enhancement of our standard Triangle Reducer, specifically engineered for high-performance parallel processing to efficiently manage the reduction of extremely dense meshes.

This specialized tool excels in scaling down ultra-high polygon counts. For instance, it can seamlessly transform assets from 20 million polygons to a more manageable 10 million, a task distinctly challenging and different from standard mesh reductions.

Optimized for rapid processing, the high-density reducer focuses only on essential reduction targets like max deviation and screen size, making it ideal for parallel computation and ensuring swift, effective optimization.

The high-density reducer effectively addresses the challenges posed by high-density meshes, such as detailed 3D scans or intricate sculpts. It streamlines workflows, mitigating issues like prolonged loading times or compatibility concerns with content creation tools. By converting cumbersome models into practical poly counts, it facilitates smoother integration into digital content creation (DCC) tools or game engines.

The high-density reducer enables the creation of versatile pipelines, allowing for:

  • Initial LOD0 creation: Create an initial LOD0 from a high-detail original mesh, followed by subsequent LOD chain creation using our standard Triangle Reducer.
  • Efficient Processing of Diverse Models: Process diverse model collections, from highly dense to lighter meshes, using Distributed Batch Processing. Tailor the application of the appropriate reducer based on the model’s polygon count, managed through Scripting and our Scene Graph.
