What's new is Simplygon Autumn 2025

Since our initial release of Simplygon 10.4, we have added several new features, improvements, and fixes to the core Simplygon SDK, as well as to our integrations with DCC tools and game engines. Below is a summary of the most notable changes.

New clustered meshlet optimizer

We have added a new tool called the Clustered Meshlet Optimizer. This tool creates optimized clusters of meshlets along with the data required to determine which clusters to render.

Meshlets are optimized for modern rendering pipelines and hardware that use mesh shader–based render pipelines. This tool is useful if your game engine uses this kind of rendering pipeline and you want to optimize meshes for it.

One additional benefit of meshlets is that you can stream them into memory as needed. With the information generated by Simplygon, you can determine which levels need to be loaded into memory to render an object at a given quality.

High-density reducer improvements

Our high-density reducer has been improved with additional features to ensure better quality and more control over reduction.

  • High density reducer now supports triangle count and triangle ratio as reduction target.
  • High density reducer now takes normals into account. This can be turned on and off with the UseNormalRanker setting.
  • Added isotropicity setting to control how much the reduction should preserve isotropic distribution of triangles. A low value will create more sliver triangles, but adapts tighter to the mesh. A high value requires more triangles to adapt to the original mesh, but creates more evenly spaced triangles which are closer to being equilateral.

Door asset optimized down from 400k triangles to a triangle ratio of 0.1. Isotropicity set to 0.0 (left) and 1.0 (right). Notice that the left door has more sliver triangles than the one on the right.

Simplygon Unreal Engine plugin

Major updates to the Unreal Engine 5 integration. Highlights include:

  • Added support for Unreal Engine 5.6.
  • The Simplygon Subsystem API has been reworked under the hood to improve stability and performance.
  • The Simplygon Subsystem API has been extended to support exporting and importing a Simplygon scene as Static Meshes.

Improvements for other processors

Expanded support

Expanded support for additional DCC tools and game engines:

File format exporters have also received updates:

  • Added support for blendshapes in GeometryData and the FBX importer/exporter. Supported fields include coordinates and normals.
  • The USD importer/exporter now supports multiple UV sets.

And more

Since the initial Simplygon 10.4 release, we have made many additional bug fixes and improvements; see the release notes for details.
